Time Information Management (TIM)
Logging and approving hours worked in TIM is the responsibility of student employees and supervisors. As a hiring representative, or if you serve as the TIM Manager or TIM Administrator, you may be approached by a student employee or supervisor regarding a problem with logging or approving hours in TIM. Depending on your role, you may need to resolve the problem yourself or direct the issue to the appropriate TIM Manager or department TIM Administrator.
The TIM Manager of student employees is responsible for reviewing, editing (if needed), and approving employees’ timecards in TIM each biweekly pay period. The biweekly deadline for manager approval in TIM is determined and communicated to managers by Payroll Services.
Visit Payroll Services for more information on the role and responsibilities of TIM Managers and to access the TIM Manual for TIM Managers and Administrators.
The TIM Administrator is responsible for signing off on all SHRA timecards in the previous biweekly pay period by 5 p.m. on the first Tuesday after the previous pay period ends.
Visit Payroll Services for more information on the role and responsibilities of TIM Administrators and to access the TIM Manual for TIM Managers and Administrators.
When hiring a student employee that holds more than one position, it is important to follow a few additional steps to ensure the student employee can appropriately log hours for all active positions.
On their first day of work in a secondary position, student employees holding more than one active SHRA position will need to sign in to TIM and transfer to their secondary position. Direct student employees to the TIM Employee Manual for SHRA Students and Temporary Employees (page 6, Transferring to a Secondary Position) for more information and instructions on recording time worked for multiple positions. To facilitate student employees in transferring to their secondary appointment, you may need to provide them with the department name, the supervisor name, and the position number.
Student employees must transfer to their secondary position in TIM once before the supervisor, TIM Manager, or TIM Administrator will be able to see them in TIM. If a student employee’s secondary position is active in ConnectCarolina but does not appear in the transfer column when they search in TIM, contact 962-HELP (4357).
